Lee Banning (Robert Patrick) and John 'Doc' Holiday (Rutger Hauer) during the Gulf War, in their fighter planes, escort a passenger airline out of restricted air space. *Doc* decides he'll blow them out of the skies but Banning cannot let him do that - they are innocents in this war. What happens after that will be revealed in the movie. Six years later Doc is back on duty and dead set on revenge for being shot down out of the skies. He wants Colonel Banning to feel the loss he felt. MY THOUGHTS It's not the sort of movie I'd rush out to see let alone buy but it does have some great action and a good suspenseful plot line. At the risk of sounding sexist it's a good "guy" movie - war, fighter planes, explosions, fist fights, U.S.Airforce - But hey gals - there is stuff for us too. See - *RP involvement* LOL I actually enjoyed the story. It makes me wonder how many other good movies I've missed because I've bypassed the genre. I was not happy with the choice of his wife. She was a little insipid and I don't think the chemistry was all there. In all fairness it did get better throughout the movie. Although RP was gorgeous to her - he hugged and kissed, massaged her shoulders but she rarely reciprocated. The story also made out that pregnant women are forgetful and *slow*. That is not the case with all women. I know it fitted the storyline but it was a bit negative to all us gals that have been in the same situation. The climax to the movie is great - lots of action and adrenaline rushes - but still our RP looks after his woman. He does such a good job of protecting his women (remembers that scene in 'Roadrunners') Ahhh - chivalry is not dead. RP's INVOLVEMENT RP is really sweet in this movie, second or even third to 'A Texas Funeral' and 'The Only Thrill'. He is a happily married man whose wife is imminently about to give birth to their first child. I love the way he treats her, he's so protective - every woman's dream. If you're an *eyes* person you also have to see this movie. The range of expressions this man can get is awesome. There are so many gorgeous close-ups of his face and his beautiful, expressive blue eyes. At these points the pause button on my DVD remote control was overworked. The big thing about this movie is the RP eye candy factor - tight Ts, the crisp uniform, those arms, his melting smile, those spectacular blue eyes, the voice, that bod in action and his running. Did I say those arms? MEMORABLE RP LINES Lee and Jennifer Banning picking out baby names. JB: (Jennifer Banning) - RP's wife: Marsha, Martha, Marva, Mary...*reading from book* LB: (Lee Banning): - our guy: Marva? JB: Marva? LB: Marvellous Marva. She could get a job with the circus - get shot out of cannons or something. *gorgeous smile.* ......... JB: Why would you want to be a General anyway? It's not as though they're gonna let you keep the jet. LB: *raises eyebrows sexily* They're not? Lee while Jennifer is concerned he may go away on a mission and never come back. JB: They can stick the promotion, I wanna stay here with you. *His face next to hers - ahhhh - melts* ..................... MEMORABLE SCENES * The picnic on the river - his arms around his wife talking gently about promising he'll be safe. * Shooting hoops - white U.S.Airforce and shorts - what a bod! * Sitting at his home desk in a tight green T-shirt talking seriously with Jennifer. (You know that same look in 'Empedocles' when he's explaining he did all he thought he could do for his son) * Woah!! Jumping through the glass windows in the save wife mode.. action stations!!! NOTES * The guy from 'Roadrunners' was in this (Chopper 1). I think his name is Billy Royale - he was the gas station guy. * Ooooh, just noticed the boxing gloves on his wall of his house - can just imagine him wearing those. * What is it with RP and T-shirts? Maybe it's just that he looks so damn sexy in them. * Hey guys - if you dig this movie you just have to get the DVD. To be able to *pause* all the RP facial expressions is a gem. AVAILABILITY Amazon.com DVD $22.49 Used $15.99 VHS $69.99 Used $7.99 (beats me!) Videoflicks.com DVD $20.99 Used none VHS $58.99 Used none END THOUGHTS This is must see movie for RP enthusiasts. The storyline is alluring and it also demonstrates his talents as an actor. It is also a movie with something in it for everyone - the girls get to drool over the man in uniform and the guys get to see everything else. *g *
